Leap second error with Trimble Lassen GPS receivers

In 2005, a timing problem with Trimble Lassen SQ GPS receiver modules was uncovered. Guralp Systems has used this type of receiver in most systems since July 2003. The receiver would incorrectly interpret the leap second pending flag as being immediately applicable, leading to a 1 second timing error.

It appears that the patch to fix this has been inconsistently applied, so many units are still affected and will have a timing problem this year with the recently-announced leap second.
