Important fixes for latest stable Platinum firmware (release 2319)
Today, two important fixes (for networking and disk recording) have been released for the Platinum firmware. Users are advised to upgrade immediately.
Fix for networking
Creation of IP aliases (i.e. multiple IP addresses for a single network interface) had been broken in an earlier change. This is now fixed and works again.
We have had some reports of faulty DHCP operation, and although we have not observed this directly, the same fix for IP aliasing looks like it addresses a problem in the DHCP code too. If you have had problems with networking, and in particular with DHCP, this release should fix it.
Fix for recording to disk
A faulty assumption in the gdi-record program, which is responsible
for recording GCF and MiniSEED files to disk, would cause a failure in either of
the two following conditions:
- The removable disk had been removed and swapped with a different disk. (Just removing and replacing would still work).
- The removable disk was formatted.
The failure would persist until the next CMG-EAM reboot or until
gdi-record was restarted. It would appear in the log file or flush
output as follows:
gdi-record: st_rdisk_mounted_cb:91: rdisk mount point /media/D38B-6CB8 does not match expected /media/5855-3C1D gdi-record: main:186: Aborting due to non-recoverable errors
This is fixed by the current upgrade. Alternatively, as a work-around, you can
restart the gdi-record module after replacing or formatting the
disk. This can be done with the Control → Services web menu or
with the command /etc/init.d/gdi-record restart .
Other changes
- Sometimes the wrong port name was displayed next to a digitiser in the web menu. It did not cause any operational problem. This has been fixed.
